The Galaxies Within Us

Every single cell in our body is a true miracle. A whole lifetime would not be enough to learn how each such cell functions, replicates, repairs, lives, dies, is replaced
Every day and night we replace half a billion cells before we have even lifted a hand to brush our teeth
Our skin heals itself, our bones knit back together, we breathe and our heart beats while we use our body to do other things all day long without thinking about it. We create life; little human beings grow inside us and are born
You eat an animal that eats grass. The grass feeds on what the earth produces: bacteria. These feed on other bacteria that feed on the breakdown of the earth itself. And what feeds and renews the earth? The bones of past civilizations and species that once existed and are now gone. What did those civilizations feed on? Exactly the same things. So we are made of ancient civilizations and layers of bygone eras that died out and returned to the cycle.
Our world has gone extinct and been rebuilt five times; we are the sixth world. This planet, terra firma, is ancient. Our body is the product of the wisdom of generations spanning millions of years. In every cell we hold the memories of the infinite; every cell is a child of eternity. Our world, almost every part of it, comes from cosmic dust and stars. It's all simply so magical. We wear a solid, tangible body; we are the spark of life of this body, bringing the elements of stardust to life
Researchers estimate that our bodies are about 97% stardust, formed more than 13 billion years ago. Scientists used infrared spectroscopy to survey nearly 200,000 stars and found that 97% of the same elements that make up human life make up the entire Milky Way galaxy
“Our amazing bodies are a suit of stars. Now we are able to map the abundance of all the major elements found in the human body across hundreds of thousands of stars in our Milky Way,” said Dr. Jennifer Johnson, chair of the SDSS-III APOGEE survey and a professor at The Ohio State University, US, in a public statement about the research
Can you think of anything more beautiful and magnificent
We are not a particle in the world, but a whole world in a particle. We are a universe clothed in physical form, a beautiful, living suit of stars. At this very moment, we breathe through it and think through it. And at this very moment, our hearts beat.
Crazy, isn't it
We are having a conscious experience full of meaning and feeling, and we use it to interact with other human beings who are wearing stardust
So beautiful it makes you want to cry
At night, go out to the mountains, to the high places where the air is clear. Lie on the ground and make love with the sky and the starlight that makes up the galaxy and makes up you and me, all of us
Brothers and sisters in the galaxy
