Mental resilience has everything to do with preparation and intention. The best preparation of all is what is known as a sovereign mind.
We live in dangerous times, but that doesn't mean the days ahead are necessarily ominous, worrying, terrible and all that. But they are changing. They are changing, and it will be a very radical change, and if you haven't noticed, it's already upon us.
Mental resilience begins with self-love.
Self-love isn't an emotion but a many-faceted knowing. At its core, it is the willpower to allow every thought that comes from within us to become our reality, without judgment, criticism or guilt. When we love all our thoughts as we would our young children, we become at peace with everything we truly are. Mental resilience doesn't look back with regret, and it isn't afraid of its own power.
This knowing is the willpower to love, in every moment, everything we have become, all that we are. It's also giving ourselves a chance to know where we came from, what we're even doing here and where we're headed.
And why is it so important to love everything we are?
Because when we do, we immediately rise above social consciousness, its opinions and its endless criticism. We no longer need approval. We rise above judgment, criticism and doubts about our ability and right to think independently. We rise above the illusion of time sold to us through clocks, calendars, days off, Tisha B’Av and other days of mourning, and national observances we did not choose but were conditioned to accept. They all belong to the past; none builds a future for us.
This is the willpower to build a life devoted to self-fulfillment, to listen only to the voice within and follow only the path of joy, where knowledge of all that exists can be found.
When you spend the whole day reacting to your surroundings instead of creating your own, you are not a sovereign mind and you are not mentally resilient. You get dragged along by agendas and agree with anything that gives you a sense of security and approval from those around you. You are emotionally addicted to collective approval.
Mental resilience means recognizing that each of us can create the experiences we choose in life, regardless of our circumstances or what anyone says. It means knowing that our doubts alone define the limits of what is possible. When we dismantle the barriers of judgment about what we may or may not do, what is logical and what isn't, we shed limits and rules that were never ours and only undermine our resilience.
As unfashionable as it may sound in an age of national suffocation, global consensus and yet another old war in new packaging, the self is still divine. Every moment we spend loving this God within us, everything we do to find our joy and our light, flows from our being and enriches the divine mind. In doing so, it nourishes the consciousness of all humanity, enriches our friends and loved ones with tenderness and purity, and gives everything that exists a chance to rise in vibration and come closer to the Creator, to our essence.
This consciousness rises above consensus and beyond the status quo where the vast majority remain stuck: a social consciousness in which the blind lead the blind into a ditch, into oblivion and into yet another disaster.
To join this wondrous flow and the change now unfolding, we need to vibrate above any social status quo that locks us into the past: a predictable history played out on repeat, each time in a different disguise.
The tribe's consensus resists change. But what are we if we don't evolve?
What will become of us if we don't change and keep clinging and holding on to the past?
How much we hold back our own growth when we cling to people and things, driven by a subconscious survival instinct or a desire to manipulate: thinking about what they can do for us in the roles we have assigned them to meet our needs.
That's what happens when we create in a cycle of addiction driven by habitual need: we keep our creations locked in orbit around us, bound by that need. How much life energy we waste on this attachment, all our lives, from cradle to grave.
Like our parents, and their parents, and their parents… you get it. We've been locked into this pattern for hundreds of generations.
Mental resilience doesn't cling to concepts, old agreements and past beliefs. It's an attitude open to change, ready to look straight ahead and, without any judgment, to know the way. It's an inner compass that can't be bribed.
The flow of life is change. That is the essence of the divine continuum, experiencing its own adventure and moving on. If we don't move forward with it, we have no future here.
When we live for the love of the self, which is the love of the divine in us, we take ourselves out of the crowded life of the herd, the one addicted to approval, judgment, stress, suffering and pain. And we become a great sun lighting the way for everyone. When we are love, every moment of our life gives us the freedom and the opportunity to express joy, and we know that nothing is ever worth separating ourselves from the happiness and joy within us. Nothing.
There is no greater love in life than the love of the self.
There is no greater love, because embracing the self creates freedom, and from that freedom joy is born. Through that birth, the divine becomes visible to all. The greatest, deepest and most meaningful love is love for the pure, innocent self, a wondrous, hidden being dwelling within the walls of flesh. When we love what we are, we also come to recognize that wonderful essence behind every face and within everything.
Then we will love the way the divine loves.
And then it will be easy to love and easy to forgive, easy to see the divine in all of life. When we love who we are, nothing is impossible or unattainable. When we truly love ourselves, we live only in the light of our laughter and walk only the path of joy. And when we are in love with ourselves, that light, that unified force, that happiness, that cheerfulness, that joyful state of being, expands to everything around us. And when love overflows within our wondrous being, the whole world becomes beautiful, life becomes meaningful and filled with joy, and joy lifts and glorifies all of life.
If we think we're “all set,” that we've reached a state of perfection, then we've reached a state of limitation, because there is no such element as perfection. There are only the limitations of the elements called perfection. To evolve means to change, to evolve means to learn. And to learn means to be in constant knowing.
Mental resilience is the great sense of the divine within us.
Without it, we don't even know whether we live in the right place for us. Finding that knowing within is something only we can do for ourselves. That is sovereignty, and it begins in consciousness. When you are mentally resilient, you are invisible to your surroundings. They don't see you, because you are creating them for yourself. You are the observer, the only one who sees.
When you understand that no one sees what you see, you're immune to whatever they say, because your truth is the only one. A person who lives only their own truth is immune to anything outside it.
Mental resilience exists in those who understand and know that they are not the body.
We have a body, but what we are is clearly not human, and when we also live this truth, we have superhuman power, because we live the mind and not the flesh. We can command the body to do things our surroundings don't consider possible. We take sovereignty over our destiny, and the body can't resist what consciousness commands it to do.
To days of mental resilience.
With love,
Ran
